Evolution of the image of Admiral A. V. Kolchak as a military and political figure in Soviet and Russian school textbooks

The article, prepared at the intersection of historiography and historical imagology, is devoted to the analysis of the transformation of the image of Admiral A. V. Kolchak as a military and political figure in domestic educational literature for secondary schools, published in the period from the late 1930s to the first quarter of the 21st century. The author analyzed 17 Soviet and Russian history textbooks prepared by authoritative academic specialists through the combined prism of anthropological and institutional approaches with content analysis by problem-chronological and historical-comparative methods. As a result, the stages of the evolution of the A. V. Kolchak image are identified; the relations with the publication context of educational literature and the influence of socio-political events on the interpretation of Russian history are established.
